Fermanaghs new High Sheriff for 2011 is well-known Enniskillen businessman Terence Blakely McCartney, best known as Terry.
Appointed by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Terry takes up office this New Year, in succession to Kenny Fisher, the countys High Sheriff for 2010.
A son of Caroline and the late Raymond McCartney, he follows in the footsteps of his father, Raymond who served as Fermanaghs High Sheriff for 1978. Terrys predecessor Kenny Fisher also followed in the footsteps of his late father Tommy Fisher, of Ballinamallard.
Terry, the proprietor of Belmore Court and Motel in Enniskillen, says he feels very honoured to take up office, especially as his father previously held the honour. He is looking forward to fulfilling the role which includes ceremonial and administrative duties.
Terrys interests include photography, in which he takes a keen interest, particularly Fermanagh scenes. A former Chairman of Enniskillen Photographic Society, he remains on the EPS committee.
An old Portoran, he is married to Mary and they have two children, Lewis and Ellie.
