Fermanagh Junior captain Jake Smith was adamant that this particular bunch of Fermanagh youngsters have ability and team spirit to have a rewarding Milk Cup experience.
The squad of 18 players managed by George Elliott will all be making their Milk Cup debuts at the 2010 tournament and skipper Jake Smith is eagerly awaiting their opening game on Monday.
"The friendly matches and training sessions have gone really well but we all cannot wait to get started next Monday against Brentford." Brentford FC make their Milk Cup debut at this year's tournament and the Fermanagh side know that they face a well organised outfit.
"People may look and see that they are only an English League side but they will have a squad of players which will be well drilled and play good passing football. They have an interesting link with Chelsea, as regards to players, so we are in no doubt that they will be a quality outfit." "We hope that the hard work we have been putting in during training will help us to compete with them." Jake was quick to point out that the Fermanagh side are also extremely excited about facing European giants Spartak Moscow on Tuesday afternoon in Portstewart.
"They are a massive side and they will play some really good football and they will be extremely quick and agile. George has prepared us in training for this game and we feel that if we defend well and play to the best of our ability then we can have a real go at them. It will certainly be a new and exciting experience for us all." George Elliott is no stranger to the Milk Cup tournament and Jake and the rest of the team are prepared to give a good performance for George and the rest of his backroom staff.
"The preparation has been brilliant and there is a great team spirit around the squad. Hopefully this will bode well for the tournament and we will certainly give it our best shot."
