Fermanagh and Omagh District Council plans a new Community Development Strategy

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is currently developing a new Community Development Strategy. The strategy will consider how the Council delivers community development support to groups and promotes Good Relations across the district.
Community development strengthens local community groups and helps them to address social, economic and environmental issues in their area. It aims to increase the confidence of local people assisting them, to do things for themselves and have a stronger voice at the decision making table, through which they have a greater ability to shape and determine change in their areas. It strengthens people's ability to be more active locally in their communities building a greater sense of belonging. It helps community groups to work in partnership with other groups and with other government bodies with a view to creating positive change locally. It helps to build strong communities with strong voices.
The Council currently provides support through its development officers, small grants and networking activities.
If you are interested in influencing how this plan is delivered in future then you should attend one of the following public meetings. If you are unable to attend one of the meetings, you can complete an online survey which is available on the Council's website www.fermanaghomagh.com (hard copies available on request from the Community Services Department).
