GERARD REGAN

REGAN Gerard (Gerry) Knockaraven, Garrison, Co. Fermanagh Beloved Dad of Orla Banton, Ciaran, Noelle and Colm, dear brother of Maeve Carty and past principal of St. Mary's High School Brollagh, left us on 23rd May 2021 and he is much missed by ourselves, his extended family, the Richmond family, his many friends, colleagues and past pupils, and especially by his ever kind and very helpful neighbours. We are glad of this opportunity to thank all who supported Gerard and his family throughout the years. With the onset of covid Gerard's life was somewhat curtailed so a big thank you to good friends and neighbours who delivered newspapers, did the messages, ferried him to meetings, dropped in to chat, drove him to bingo, visited him to reminisce about days in St. Mary's Training College and the Devenish and Lamh Dhearg GAA Clubs; those who drove him to Derry/Belfast for hospital appointments and to all who kept him in the loop. As his health deteriorated we are very grateful for the attentive medical care provided by Dr Herdman and his team in Belleek, the Melvin Pharmacy, for the kind carers who regularly attended him and his medical team in Altnagelvin Hospital. A heartfelt thanks for the wonderful kindness shown him day and night by Professor Max Watson and the outstanding Palliative Care team in Omagh hospital and thanks also to all who generously gave contributions to the Palliative Care Ward. We are grateful for all the Masses said for Gerard, the messages received, the phonecalls and visits made and the lovely warm tributes left by so many past pupils, colleagues, friends and neighbours on rip.ie. Gerard would have enjoyed every one of them. We truly appreciated the regard shown for Gerard as the cortege went to the Church, especially the dignified guards of honour presented by the Garrison Anglers, the Devenish GAA 60s team, the Devenish GAA Club and the staff and pupils of St. Mary's High School Brollagh; indeed an eloquent tribute. We thank Fr Beggan for faithfully attending Gerard and for his kind words at the Funeral Mass. The musicians added so much to the occasion and for that we thank Anne Mc Caughey, Louise Leonard, Seamus Richmond and Breigin Baccolini. A special word of thanks to Dawn Purdy and her team in the Bilberry Restaurant who provided us with a lovely meal after the funeral and thanks also to Devenish GAA for providing refreshments at the wake. We thank all who helped Peter Carty (Gerard's brother-in-law) in his difficult role as Funeral Director: Bernard Carty and Martin Doherty, his co-Funeral Directors, the grave diggers, the traffic controllers Gary Mc Dermott and Benny Mc Goldrick, Jenny Flanagan and her team in the Flower Basket; you were all a tremendous help. It is in these sad circumstances that we see the true goodness of people and for that we thank you. Gerard was much loved by many and although some kind people may have been overlooked you can be sure we are forever grateful to everyone. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions. Gerard's Months Mind Mass will take place on Saturday 17th July at 7pm in Mary Queen of Peace Church, Garrison and on Sunday 18th July at 9.30am in St. Joseph's Church Glenavy, Co. Antrim.
