ST. EUGENE'S College, Rosslea will close according to a new proposal from CCMS that was delivered to schools on Monday evening.
A co-educational college across Lisnaskea and Derrylin campuses is proposed.
Three meetings were held with parents, Boards of Governors and trustees at St. Eugene's College; St. Aidan's High School, Derrylin and St. Comhghall's College, Lisnaskea.
CCMS representatives told the meetings that the Trustees of the Clogher and Kilmore Diocess have made the following recommendations for post-primary education in South Fermanagh: * The three existing schools will amalgamate to create one new 11-19, co-educational college; * The college will operate as one school, under one Board of Governors and one leadership team, but on two campuses (Lisnaskea and Derrylin).
* Lisnaskea will cater for 11-19 provision and Derrylin will become a Key Stage 3 campus with the potential for some Key Stage 4 provision, subject to the availability of resources and the ability to secure an ongoing intake of 40-45 year eight pupils.
This initial consultation process is open for responses until Monday June 15. CCMS will then analyse the responses, and make a decision as to whether a Development Proposal for change should be published. This would then be forwarded to the WELB, for consideration.
