Derrygonnelly Harps 3-16 Roslea Shamrocks 3-07 Derrygonnelly Harps are deserving Fermanagh County champions after a high scoring 3-16 to 3-07 win over three times champions Roslea Shamrocks in Brewster Park on Sunday.

Captain Ryan Jones quickly dedicated the win to the late Damian McGovern and certainly the Harps played some inspired stuff as they led by five at the break and even the loss of Conall Jones to a straight red card could not derail their push to glory . The first half was a cracker from the minute that Niall Cosgrove punched the ball into the Derrygonnelly net with only 72 seconds on the clock. He reacted quickest to a long range free that bounced off the bar.

However, Derrygonnelly responded strongly with points from Conall Jones and two from Paul Ward levelling the game.

Leigh Jones then pointed after a lay off from Stephen McGullion before Ward hit three points from play in three minutes, tremendous pace and scoring with either foot to put the Harps in control at 1-00 to 0-07.

Derrygonnelly then hit the post before Conall Jones pointed to put seven between the teams.

The Shamrocks got their first score for 20 minutes when Sean Quigley knocked over a free but it was only temporary respite as Shane McGullion netted and the Harps now led by 1-08 to 1-01.

Better was to follow as the unstoppable Ward shook off Martin Beagan and fired low to the net to put ten between the teamsbi ut Roslea finished the half strongly to give themselves some hope.

Ruairi McGuinness volleyed to the net and Sean Quigley pointed two frees to leave it 2-08 to 2-03 at the break.

Roslea though could not build on the momentum at the start of the second half and it was the Harps who quickly plundered three points from play.

Denis Greene, Conall Jones and Garvan McGinley all stroked over excellent scores.

The former champions always have goals in them and Sean Quigley slotted home soon after to make it 2-11 to 3-03 after 40 minutes.

However, the crucial score of the game was to follow as the Harps replied with a goal to put the game to bed.

Shane McGullion got his second goal of the game fisting home a Garvan McGinley pass as they now led by 3-11 to 3-03.

Conall Jones then received a straight red for a high challenge but it made little difference as the Harps seen the rest of the game out with a bit of ease.

Man of the match Stephen McGullion fired over two good points while Sean Quigley pointed twice for the Shamrocks as the game edged to a conclusion.

Harps substitutes Darren McKenna vnd Neil Gallagher pointed with Conor Quigley replying for Roslea but the final whistle sounded soon after with the Harps deserving champions on a scoreline of 3-16 to 3-07.
