More than 300 former teachers, pupils, parents and friends of Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School gathered at the Killyhevlin Hotel for a dinner with Music and Memories to mark the coming to an end of the school that has taught generations of Fermanagh school girls.
It was a night of fun and laughter as former pupils met with staff and examined an exhibition of memorabilia which featured everything from models created by the late art teacher Gordon Johnson to examples of the old school uniform.
Photos of school plays, formals, extra-curricular activities and all manner of school life, taken by retired English teacher Roy Cathcart, who read a poem dedicated to the school on the night, were also shown on screens.
Gifts from the school Parents’ Association were given to the last Collegiate Principal Miss Elizabeth Armstrong and Chairwoman of the Board of Governors, Mrs. Florence Brunt, who also introduced the speakers during the evening.
Speakers who served as Principals of the school -- Mr. George Young, Miss Kate Doherty and Miss Elizabeth Armstrong -- shared their memories and thoughts about what the school meant to them.
Former pupils First Minister Arlene Foster, Sarah Saunderson, Robyn Livingstone and Marion Maxwell, spoke of their memories of life at the Collegiate and former Music teacher Evelyn Hassard sang a song she had composed about her time at the Collegiate.
The formal proceedings ended with a rendition of the school song followed by dancing and meeting old friends.
