A FIRE has ripped through the roof space of a derelict hotel in Newtownbutler.
The blaze at the former Lanesborough Arms Hotel is being treated as “deliberate”.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were called to the property, made up of a number of buildings including a two storey bar and restaurant, on Sunday, August 28.
Two fire appliances from Lisnaskea Fire Station and one from Enniskillen Fire Station were deployed to the derelict building which was “well alight” according to a spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and hosereel jets dealt with the fire in the roof space above the bar area. The fire is being treated as deliberate,” he told The Impartial Reporter.
Meanwhile, firefighters were called to a fire at Pizza Hut on Belmore Street in Enniskillen on Saturday night after a kitchen fryer caught fire.
“The fire is being treated as accidental,” said a Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.
It was the second fire in the town in a week after a blaze broke out at Franco’s restaurant the weekend before resulting in the temporary closure of the premises.
