Enniskillen Royal Grammar Medallions 24
Down High School Medallions 3
There was success for Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in its first year under the new school regime as they defeated Down High School in the Bowl final in Dungannon this morning.
The Enniskillen side led from the start and never looked back after racing into a 19-3 lead at the interval and they confirmed their superiority in the second half to run out easy winners to take the Bowl by a scoreline of 24-3.
Callum Smyton was the star of the first half as he crossed for two tries one of which was converted by team captain Robbie Mills.
Mills then crossed himself which he converted while all Down High could muster was a penalty to leave it 19-3 at the break.
The second half continued in a similar vein with the ERGS on top and making sure they secured the victory,.
Gauley increased the lead with a try in the thrid quarter to take the lead to over 20 points and there was really no way back for Down High after the fourth try.
The ERGS sealed the win with a converted try as Morton touched down and Mills duly added the extras for a convincing and deserved Bowl win.
A good win for the Enniskillen lads and their coaches Josh Kennedy and Connor Keys who targeted the Bowl win following their exit from the main Shield competition.
Hence, it was a case of job done and a first rugby trophy for the newly formed Enniskillen Royal Grammar School.
