In the past 24 days there has been only seven new positive cases of Covid-19 in the Fermanagh and Omagh District area, with the figure rising from 73 to 80 in that time.
It is not known if these new positive cases are in the community, in a care home or in a hospital setting, despite calls to release figures of positive cases in care homes on a geographical basis.
According to Department of Health figures released yesterday, Wednesday, there were two new deaths in the previous 24 hour period in Northern Ireland.This followed Tuesday’s figures, where no deaths were reported.
However, the total number of deaths related to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland, up to May 15, is almost 200 more than that registered by the Department of Health to the same date, and takes the number of deaths in Northern Ireland related to Covid-19 to over 700 as of today
Data released by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency showed that there has been a total of 664 Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland up to May 15.
The comparative figure from the Department on that date, who only register deaths from individuals who have tested positive for Covid-19, was 472.
Since then the Department’s confirmed deaths have risen to 516, which means that the total number of deaths related to Covid-19 is over 700 as of today, Thursday. Fermanagh and Omagh District shows no change in deaths, and remains at 16 in total up to May 15.
Since the pandemic began there has been a total 867 “excess deaths” registered in Northern Ireland in comparison to the average of the previous five years.
