A much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mrs Patricia Kelly (nee Maguire) wife of the late Eamon Kelly, Irvinestown, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2020, in the South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen.
Born on June 3, 1942, Patricia was the only daughter of James and Mary Anne Maguire, Kesh, and sister of Chris Maguire, Enniskillen, and the late Desmond, Manus and Gerry Maguire.
On August 2, 1962 she married Eamon Kelly and had six children, Brenda, Elaina, Sinead, Damian, Roisin and Darragh (R.I.P.). Work brought them to Coventry in their early married years before returning to family and friends in Kesh until 1977. They then moved to Eamon’s hometown of Irvinestown where they resided for the rest of their days, making many lifelong friends, who continued to visit Patricia during her time in the Milverne Care Home.
Patricia raised her family before returning to work as a dinner lady in St. Mary’s Secondary School, Irvinestown. She later worked as a bus attendant and care assistant in Killadeas special care school, moving to the new Elmbrook with them before retiring in 2004.
Patricia was a keen gardener throughout her life and spent all her free time tending to her beautiful flowers, especially her roses, which were admired by all. Patricia became involved in establishing the Irvinestown Community Association, where she was secretary for many years, forming many friendships and addressing issues within the community. Patricia was also a scout leader for some years, helping at the beaver squad.
Patricia loved family gatherings especially at Christmas time where her home was always filled with lots of family friends and neighbours, enjoying her hospitality and good fun. Patricia loved music and dancing even throughout her illness with dementia and could be found dancing around the care home at any time of the day, especially to Daniel O’Donnell. Never was there a time when she was without a jigsaw puzzle at her table or a crossword puzzle in her hand.
Patricia passed away peacefully on May 30 after a short period in the SWAH, Enniskillen and was laid to rest on June 1, 2020 following a private ceremony due to Covid-19 restrictions, Fr. Kevin Duffy conducted a lovely service. The burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Month’s Mind Mass will be on Saturday, June 27 at 6pm, available via parish webcam.
