TWO Fermanagh galleries are continuing to show their support for emerging and established artists alike by sponsoring prizes for the 139th Royal Ulster Academy (RUA) Exhibition.
The Devenish Gallery and Framing Workshop, and Hambly & Hambly Gallery and Cultural Hub, in Enniskillen have both shown great commitment over the years to supporting local festivals, and visual and performing arts trails in Fermanagh.
This year, they are extending their support for the arts by donating prizes for the prestigious RUA, show which is held annually in the Ulster Museum, Belfast.
Eileen Burns, from The Devenish Gallery, said: “We are proud to award a £500 prize for a recipient at this years’ exhibition. We are delighted to be supporting artists during what has been a challenging time for the sector and the business community. We have had a long association with the RUA’s past Presidents, the late TP Flanagan and Dr. Denise Ferran, both internationally acclaimed and Fermanagh-born.”
Ciara Hambly, from Hambly & Hambly, added: “We are thrilled this year to offer an artist’s residency and solo exhibition at Hambly & Hambly as part of our commitment to the arts, and have welcomed the Royal Ulster academicians, Rosie McGurran and Barbara Allen, alongside a host of emerging and established artists at our gallery.
“Support for artists and the sector is needed now more than ever during a pandemic,” said Noelle McAlinden, representing the RUA committee, which brokered the partnership.
