THERE has been a sudden change at the top of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, with Chairman Chris Smyth stepping down exactly one minute into the December meeting.
The Ulster Unionist Councillor took up the post in May, becoming one of the youngest people to hold the position, but has now decided to hand the Chain of Office to his party colleague, Councillor Diana Armstrong, who served as Vice-Chair in the 2019/20 term.
Councillor Smyth told members he had thoroughly enjoyed the role, thanking them and council officials for their support.
Councillor Armstrong took over the meeting at this point and is now officially the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
