FRANCES Marina ‘Rene’ Perry (nee Power) sadly passed away peacefully in the County Care Home on December 1.

Born on October 4, 1934, Rene was one of four daughters and two brothers born to James and Rebecca Power.

She was always very proud to call herself a genuine ‘townie’, having been born between the bridges in Paget Square.

A former pupil of Enniskillen Model Primary School and Enniskillen Technical College, she then took employment in the Taylor Woods factory, aged 16.

Rene had also enjoyed her time in the Girl Guides, Brownies, and St. John's Ambulance service. One of her greatest loves was attending the Enniskillen Town Hhall Dances with her sister Iris, and both their dance cards were always full.

Rene then joined the Women’s Royal Army Core, aged 19, and it was on duty in Rhyl, Wales that she met her future husband, Desmond Perry.

He was from Evercreech in Somerset, England. On leaving the army, they lived in Devizes, Wiltshire for a year.

It was here that Rene worked in Hinchley's Engineering Works, manufacturing parts for ships. They then moved to Enniskillen and were married on July 21, 1956.

They set up home in Derrychara and had four children: David, Desiree, Alison and Rodney.

Rene devoted her time to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the most important people in her life, and who all became a huge support for her after Desmond passed away on August 18, 1997.

She was a well-known face in Enniskillen and loved nothing more than going up the town each day, where she would chat to a wide circle of friends across all age ranges.

The funeral service was held by the Rev. Kenneth Hall and took place on December 3 in the SR Elliott Funeral Home.

Rene was then laid to rest in Breandrum Cemetery, alongside her late husband, Desmond. The family would like to express their thanks to Marcus from SR Elliott for his kind help and support.

It was with great sadness that Rene’s funeral had to be held subject to current pandemic restrictions, as the family would have loved to allow many more family members and friends to have mourned her passing.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Millverne, Clogher Valley, and County Care homes for the dedicated care they gave their mum over the past two years.

They are also very grateful for the recent care given by staff at Craigavon Hospital and the SWAH.

Rene is survived by her sister, Iris Rogers; four children; ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Joan and May, and brothers Stanley and Jack.
