STUDENTS at St. Fanchea's College, Enniskillen were fundraising for two charities during the month of December.
They completed a 24-hour fast from food or social media/digital devices.
Teacher James Duffy told this newspaper: "In this critical year for the world's poorest, we wanted to help make a difference that will save the lives of children like Mark Moses, from Nairobi, in Kenya.
"We felt that there has never been a more important time to take part in the fast.
"We raised a total of £2,961.65. A massive thank-you goes to all our students and staff who took part in the fast, and to our amazing school community, which supported the students with their fundraising."
The students at St. Fanchea's usually collect food hampers and toys as part of the St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal, but this year they opted to provide gift vouchers from local shops in order to keep handling to a minimum, and to allow families to choose Christmas gifts for their children themselves as opposed to gifts pre-selected by students.
