WITH the aim of lifting people’s spirits during the lockdown while also supporting NI musicians, Charlie’s bar in Enniskillen are hosting a series of live virtual gigs.
The series started on January 23 with live music from Kev Liam, which was streamed via Charlie’s Facebook page.
The manager of Charlie’s, Una Burns, said: “This past year has been a tough one, and with so much negativity online and in the news, I wanted to do something to lift the spirits of people during these next few weeks of lockdown.
“I planned a ‘live virtual gig’ with ‘Kevliammusic’, and we streamed it off the Charlie’s Facebook page on Saturday, January 23.
“I couldn’t believe the response we received,” said Una, noting that they had people tuning in from Australia, New Jersey, London and Canada: “It was also really brilliant to see the comments from so many and the positive response to Kev and his music.”
Following on from the success of Kev’s live virtual gig, Una and the team at Charlie’s have decided to run three more.
This weekend (February 6), Enniskillen singer John Garrity will perform from 8pm to 9pm.
The online programme continues with Ross from the band Disco Beard, also known as ‘Ross Sings Songs’, on February 20 from 8pm to 9pm.
Finally, Fame Academy star, singer Sinéad Quinn, will take to Charlie’s virtual platform on March 17.
“It is great to be able to support some of the fantastic musicians we have here in Northern Ireland in these challenging times.
“Although our doors may be closed, we are hoping that this will bring a bit of the Charlie’s spirit into people’s homes!” said Una.
