Davy Kettyles, former Enniskillen councillor, and now a Belfast-based singer-songwriter, is supporting Enniskillen Food Bank this week by donating ‘The Humanity album’ download and recording a mini-gig to be posted on his Facebook page at 7pm Friday, February 5. His local Branch of Unite the Union is supporting the event, under the Unite the Music Project banner.
Mr. Derek Parton, Unite the Union branch Secretary said: “Davy’s music is all his own work, and people will be surprised by the quality of his songs. The album containing eight original songs, including 'No Tears at Your Grave' will be released this Friday, February 5 and can be purchased by googling Davy Kettyles, Bandcamp. The album can be downloaded by giving a minimum £5 donation.”
Davy Kettyles went on to say: “I am delighted to be able to help such a great cause in my home town. I am a member of ‘We Shall Overcome’, a grassroots musician’s movement who use their musical talent to raise money for foodbanks like that in Enniskillen. I am especially delighted that I have a ‘Special Guest’ performing with me on Friday, Jess Silk, a fabulous singer songwriter from England and a fellow WSO member.
“It is more than sad that people need this type of help in this day and age. My Union Unite have supported the Enniskillen Food Bank before, but a suggestion by Derek Parton, Enniskillen Branch Secretary, and someone who is familiar with my music, prompted me to do this.”
John Shade, spokesman for The Enniskillen Foodbank said: “This was totally unexpected, I would like to publically thank Davy Kettyles, Derek Parton, Albert Hewitt and Unite the Union for their support of our Foodbank in the past and now again. I hope people will check in with Davy’s post on Friday and look forward to hearing his songs and those of Jess Silk.”
