Two cannabis plants which were growing in a house in Newtownbutler were to help with pain relief Enniskillen Magistrates Court was told.
Jamie Edward Gordon (30), with an address of Ballyhoe Road, Magheraveely, Newtownbutler was convicted with possession of a Class B drug.
On July 24, 2020 police were on patrol in Newtownbutler and stopped at an address. They were invited into the house by a female occupant and when they entered the kitchen they noticed two cannabis plants.
A time later, the defendant arrived at the house and said the plants were his.
Stewart Ballentine, representing Gordon, told the court that the 30 year old had been seriously electrocuted and left for dead a number of years before and had made a remarkable recovery.
He said the cannabis was used by the defendant to help deal with the pain alongside other medicines.
Mr. Ballentine added that the plants had not been harvested when they were discovered and that there was no intention by his client to sell the drugs.
Gordon was given a one month prison sentence suspended for 12 months by District Judge Steven Keown to deter the 30 year old from growing drugs again.
