Approximately 20 firefighters tackled a "deliberate" blaze on Murley Mountain, between Fivemiletown and Fintona in Co. Tyrone this evening (Friday, February 12).
A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) told The Impartial Reporter that at 2.25pm the NIFRS responded to a fire on approximately 100 acres of bogland at Murley Road, Fintona.
"Four fire appliances from Clogher, Fintona and Dromore fire stations attended the incident, approximately 20 firefighters in total," said the NIFRS spokesman.
He added: "Firefighters used fire beaters to extinguish the fire."
The NIFRS left the scene at approximately 5.30pm.
"Early signs indicate that the fire was started deliberately," the NIFRS spokesman told this newspaper.
