IT HAS certainly been a presidential year of 'firsts' for Heather Ellis, the President of the Rotary Club of Enniskillen.
On Saturday, February 20, she hosted the Enniskillen Rotary Ball, a long-established annual event – but on this occasion, the event was for the first time ever a virtual function that was held at the homes of her fellow Rotarians.
Once again, Heather was demonstrating the Rotary International theme for 2020-21, 'Rotary Opens Opportunities', as she took the opportunity to hold the popular yearly gathering online.
The Enniskillen club members were joined during the entertaining online event by District Governor for Ireland 2020-21, Conny Ovesen, and the former District Governor, William Cross.
In her President's message delivered on the night, Heather – who was delighted to be able to host the online get-together on the same night as their annual Rotary Ball – reflected on "what a very different year it has been for all of us".
She told her fellow guests: "I'm choosing to look back on 2021 in a positive way because we have found new and very different ways to connect together and develop the opportunities that Rotary has opened up for us to serve in our little area of the Rotary world."
The programme of entertainment during the enjoyable evening included a quiz, presented by Enniskillen Rotarian Kenny Fisher.
