Fermanagh organisation Ellie's Retreat is to be highlighted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council illuminates Enniskillen Castle for various charities and iniatives.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on selected dates throughout the month of March in support of a number of charities and initiatives.
One of the initiatives that will be supported is Ellie's Retreat, which will be highlighted on March 9 when Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre are illuminated pink.
On March 9 2016, 8 year-old Ellie Nicholl from Enniskillen lost her battle with H-ABC an extremely rare genetic disorder which affects the nervous system. Her memory now lives on in Ellie’s Retreat – which offers free respite breaks exclusively for families who have suffered the loss of a child. Ellie’s Retreat is located at Castle Archdale caravan park and is run voluntarily by Ellie’s parents Billy & Ciara. For further information on Ellie’s Retreat please visit www.elliesretreat.com.
Both buildings will be illuminated green on Wednesday 17 March joining a wide range of iconic buildings across the world which will be lit up to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre Omagh will be lit up purple on Sunday 21 March at the request of the Northern Ireland Statistical Research Agency to mark Census day while both buildings will be illuminated yellow on Tuesday 23 March in respectful memory of all those who sadly lost their lives to Covid-19.
Earlier this month on Wednesday 3 March, both buildings were lit up blue to mark Lymphodoema Awareness Week. For further information on Lymphodoema, please visit www.lymphodoema.org.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council illuminates buildings to recognise days of significance to groups within the wider community.
