The Police Service of Northern Ireland have made two appointments to the area command team in Fermanagh and Omagh.
Chief Inspector Graham Dodds has moved onto a role based in Police Headquarters within the organisation, while Chief Inspector Roy Robinson is due to retire following 42 and a half years of service within policing in Northern Ireland.
Chief Inspector Robert McGowan will take over in Omagh, following his role in District Policing Command based in Belfast. The new Fermanagh based Chief Inspector will be Chief Inspector Rory Hoy, who has been promoted from Inspector having served the Fermanagh community for over 26 years.
Speaking following the new appointments within the local area command team, District Commander Superintendent Alywin Barton said: “Firstly, I would like to pay tribute to both Chief Inspectors Roy Robinson and Graham Dodds for their work across the Fermanagh and Omagh area, and their tireless efforts in engaging with communities and helping to keep people safe. Their vast experience and knowledge will be greatly missed. I wish Roy well in his very well deserved retirement and Graham every success in his new position within the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
“I would like to welcome Chief Inspector Robert McGowan, who joins the local command structure. Robert has been a Chief Inspector for a few years in Headquarters but is no stranger to the district. He has previously worked as an Inspector, Sergeant and Constable in Lisnaskea, Enniskillen and Omagh. He brings with him a wide understanding of policing issues and is fully aware of the challenges and issues that exist across the entire District.
Chief Inspector Rory Hoy is a native of the County and is well established and widely known within the Fermanagh communities. He is recognised as both an excellent police officer and an ambassador for engagement with partner agencies. During the unprecedented time that we are currently living in, it is reassuring to have two such experienced officers taking up these important roles in this District.
“The Police Service of Northern Ireland will continue to liaise with key stakeholders to help identify problems that directly impact the local community of the Fermanagh and Omagh areas. We look forward to working with all sections of the community to ensure the district a safe place to live, work and socialise.”
