THERE was welcome news today for the Fermanagh and Omagh District as there have been no new cases of coronavirus in people aged over 80 in the past week – a sign that the vaccination programme is working.
The Council district continues to have a low seven-day rate of positive Covid cases. There were 43 cases recorded in the past week.
Positive local cases in the past week now report a rate of 36.8 per 100,000 people, compared to the previous seven-day rate of 40.2.
Some 43 people tested positive in the past week; nine were aged 19 and under; 19 were aged between 20 and 39; 11 were between 40 and 59; four were between 60 and 79, with zero aged 80 and over.
In the past 24 hours, there have been 223 cases reported by the Department of Health, in the daily update published on Thursday, March 11. Nine of these cases were reported in Fermanagh and Omagh.
According to the latest data, there are 40 Covid-19 in-patients across the Western Trust, while across all hospitals in Northern Ireland (NI), there are 189 such in-patients.
There are 11 Covid-19 in-patients in the South West Acute Hospital (SWAH). There are no Covid-19 patients being treated in ICU in the SWAH.
There are 26 Covid-19 ICU patients across NI; 19 of whom are ventilated.
The data shows that there were no recent deaths recorded in Fermanagh and Omagh, with the last Covid-related death in the district recorded on February 20, which brought the district death toll to 83.
Across NI, the death toll stands at 2,096 people; there were nine deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, with three occurring outside of the reporting period.
