The Rotary Club of Enniskillen’s newly launched Run.For.Rotary event is already gathering pace as participants get their skates on!
They are seeking 100 people ‘to go the distance’ and share in their charity Walk/Run/Cycle Virtual 5k 10k 50k activity, which was recently given its starting orders.
Registration is now open and continues until May 1, 2021.
Catherine Robinson, Enniskillen Rotary President-Elect, main organiser of the Enniskillen Club’s Run.For.Rotary initiative, mentions that numbers are filling up fast and she encourages participants to book now to receive their bespoke pin and snood.
“The entry fee is £20,” explains Catherine, who adds: “Simply choose your activity and complete by Saturday 5th June 2021. Once you’re done message your results to our Facebook page.”
To register and enter, people are advised to donate £20 via PayPal to cathyrobison40@hotmail.com or call mobile number 07958053499 for further details.
Catherine points out that “proceeds from this virtual event will support local charities via The Rotary Club of Enniskillen.”
The President-Elect, who was recently joined by Rotary President Heather Ellis and fellow Rotarians to launch the special activity, expressed the hope that their Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle will promote “fitness and fun.”
Acknowledging the results which have already come in from several ‘early bird’ teams, she commented: “I know you enjoy your walking anyway, family, friends, fun and just a good old natter!”
Looking forward to the easement of Covid restrictions, Catherine highlighted the importance of people “getting out and getting moving again.”
Bearing in mind the guidelines, she spoke about friends and family “meeting up and walking together and helping to raise funds.”
“Getting out helps mental health,” stresses Catherine, who acknowledged that the Rotary Club of Enniskillen is deeply appreciative of every penny given to their fundraising efforts.
