MORE than 200 bags full of litter were collected in the Pettigo and Tullyhommon area recently as more than 60 locals joined The Forge Family Resource Centre for a cross-Border Spring Clean on Easter Tuesday (April 6).
A cold but dry morning saw community action at its very best, cleaning up the environment and teaching children and young people how to practically influence climate change locally.
The Chairperson of The Forge Family Resource Centre, Pauline Keown, said: "Brilliant work by everyone and great to see so many people taking part in our Spring Clean."
However, she went on to say: "It is so sad to see the amount of rubbish on our roadsides. Is it really that hard to take our rubbish home and put it in the bin?
"We hope from this clean-up, that has been an annual event for our Youth Club for many years and has now been extended to the whole community, that people will take pride in the areas of Pettigo and Tullyhommon, going forward."
The directors and staff of The Forge Family Resource Centre wish to thank all those who took part, especially the children and young people, volunteering their time to make the local area more aesthetically pleasing once again.
They also thanked Donegal County Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council for their support with the Spring Clean.
