THE latest series of Line of Duty, which stars Enniskillen's own Adrian Dunbar, has amassed huge audience numbers every week – but last night's episode reached nearly 11 million viewers as fans tuned in to find out the fate of DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) following episode five's cliffhanger.
The penultimate episode of season six aired on Sunday night (April 26), and according to overnight Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) figures, supplied by overnights.tv, the episode had an audience of 10.9 million viewers.
This makes it the most-watched television drama episode in the UK since Doctor Who's Christmas Day special in 2008, which had an audience of 11.7 million people.
Alongside the gripping storylines, many are also tuning in for the one-liners from Superintendent Ted Hastings – a number of which have been inspired by Adrian himself.
Coined 'Ted-isms', a particular favourite from last night's episode was: "Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey, can we just move this?", which was said by Ted during an interrogation scene.
It has since blown up on social media, with many people sharing tweets and memes of the new catchphrase.
The final episode of Series Six is set to air on BBC One next Sunday night (May 2), but will viewers finally find out who is the mysterious bent copper 'H'?
