Following the recent death of His Royal Highness, The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council opened an online book of condolence to afford the people of the district the opportunity to convey messages of sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.  

The messages were collated in a book, which the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong, presented to the Queen’s representative in Co Fermanagh, Viscount Brookeborough KG, Lord Lieutenant of County Fermanagh who accepted the book on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen. Also present was the Lord Lieutenant of County Tyrone, Mr Robert Scott, OBE.  

Speaking about the book of condolence, Councillor Armstrong said;  

“Because of the restrictions introduced to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Council was unable to open books of condolence where members of the public could come to physically record their expressions of sympathy and an online book allowed them to contribute virtually. These messages were then collated and printed to create a book of condolence which will be conveyed by Viscount Brookeborough  to Her Majesty the Queen, on behalf of the people of the district.  

I would like to thank the people of the district who left messages of condolence online to provide some comfort and solace for the Queen and members of the wider Royal Family."
