IT IS the dream of every child to spend a day in ‘The Magic Kingdom’ and shake hands with Goofy, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
Well, for Paul Byrne (right), it’s an everyday occurrence! Paul, from Silverstream Court, Enniskillen, is a cultural representative at the Epcot Centre in Disney World, Florida.
The 22-year-old Enniskillen man has been there for the past 12 months and loves every minute of it. He has returned home to see his parents, Frank and Regina Byrne, and family, before heading back to Disney World for another year.
Then it is off to Paris and the opening of the new Euro Disney World in April next year.
Before that though, he has to spend nine months travelling to France to train staff for the huge new project. He is the only Irish person scheduled to take up a position at Euro Disney, at present.
His training will include learning French – something he hasn’t done since his school days.
“I’m already taking classes and find that the language is coming back gradually. It’s improving week by week,” says Paul, who has already caught a cold trying to acclimate to the damp Irish weather.
Paul, a former student at St. Joseph’s Secondary School and Fermanagh College of Further Education, works as a cultural representative in the United Kingdom and Ireland department of the Epcot Centre in Disney World.
