A HOVERCRAFT completed by the engineering students at Fermanagh College of Further Education has passed her initial tests with flying colours.
Following the first try-out on Derrychara football pitch, Mr. Ronnie Elliott, lecturer in engineering at the college, reported that the hovercraft – powered by a 250cc Yamaha two-stroke twin engine – went very well.
“A few minor adjustments, and she flew,” he said with enthusiasm. “The initial trials went well. All the students took turns piloting her.”
So far, no name has been chosen for the unusual craft, which can travel at a running pace over land or water with the pilot using his own weight to help guide the machine.
