Enniskillen Royal Boat Club have recently been Clubmark NI accredited and Billie-Jo Irwin from Fermanagh and Omagh District council visited the Boat Club last week to present them with their certificate on behalf of Sport NI.
Sport Northern Ireland has worked with a range of governing bodies of sport and local authorities to deliver this sports club accreditation programme. The programme has aimed to identify, develop, accredit and recognise high quality sports clubs and the contribution that they make to the development of sport in Northern Ireland
Sport Northern Ireland value the essential and significant role that sports clubs play in the development of sport:
- providing outlets for participation
- quality environments for talented young athletes to develop and
- competitive opportunities offered by clubs
An accredited club is recognised as a safe, regarding and quality environment for participants of all ages to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.
Derek Holland, Head of Rowing said he was delighted that the Club had achieved this accreditation from Sport NI.
"It recognises the efforts of everyone at ERBC who ensure that all our rowers are in a safe environment and that they have the opportunity to reach their potential while they row for the Boat Club. Many thanks to Billie- Jo from the council and everyone at Sport NI for their invaluable support throughout the process," he said.
