A COUNTY Cavan man has been handed a fine and penalty points after he was detected driving with no insurance.
Gavin Halliday (23), with an address of Butlersbridge, Co. Cavan, was driving a BMW along the Sligo Road towards Enniskillen on May 30 when he was stopped by police.
Whilst talking to Halliday, officers noticed the insurance disc on the car had expired two days earlier on May 28.
When asked why he had let it expire, Halliday replied that he had been working the last two evenings, and hadn’t the time to sort it out.
Halliday, who was representing himself at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday, told the court that insurance was now in place on the car.
District Judge Steven Keown handed down six penalty points and a £300 fine to Halliday.
