A MIXING of chemicals to clean a dishwasher led to the call-out of the emergency services in Enniskillen this morning (Monday).
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said: "Firefighters were called to reports that two staff had mixed chemicals to clean a dishwasher in a commercial property on Townhall Street, and potentially created chlorine gas.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus evacuated the building and ventilated it. One male and one female were treated at the property by firefighters and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), but did not attend hospital. The incident was dealt with by 10.29am."
One fire appliance from Enniskillen Fire Station and one appliance from Irvinestown Fire Station attended the incident. The incident was reported to the NIFRS at 09.25am.
A NIAS spokesperson said: "We received a 999 call at 09.41am following reports of an incident in the Townhall Street area of Enniskillen.
"NIAS despatched one emergency crew and one rapid response paramedic to the scene. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no one was taken to hospital."
