A MAN who was detected by police with the incorrect form of registration mark on his car has been handed a fine, following conviction.
On April 17, Kevin Barry McCusker (26), with an address of Inver Close, Rosslea, pulled out onto Monaghan Road before officers stopped the car.
They spoke to the defendant, and following the search informed him that he had the incorrect form of registration plates at the front and back of his car.
The height of the registration mark was 36mm instead of the required 79mm, whilst the width was 4mm instead of 11mm.
Catríona Kennan, barrister for McCusker, told the court this incident was a complete misunderstanding and had since been rectified.
In handing down a £150 fine to McCusker, Deputy District Judge Anne Marshall said it was clear from the photograph that the registration mark was well below what it should have been, and she would be surprised if McCusker was not aware of that.
