A new mural inspired by Oscar Wilde was revealed in Enniskillen today, Thursday, July 8, bringing some more vibrancy to the local community and visitors alike.
Enniskillen BID had ambitious plans for a number of murals within its 2017- 2022 business plan, and it was delighted to see the first such mural completed on the wall of Houston’s Department Store, located at Water Street.
Noelle McAloon, Enniskillen BID Manager, was thrilled with the finished mural and thanked Houston’s for their support with the project.
She said: “The theme of the first mural dovetails nicely with the Art Over Borders project, ‘Flight of the Swallow’ [which has seen a trail of gold-leaf swallow silhouettes placed throughout Enniskillen centre], based on the Oscar Wilde story of ‘The Happy Prince’.
“The timing is perfect, as the last of the swallows were placed this week in time to see the completed mural.”
The mural was designed and painted by Jordan Shaw, from Ace Spray Works, who enjoyed chatting to many locals who stopped to admire his skill while he worked.
Noelle noted how Enniskillen BID is so encouraged by the response to the mural that it is looking for the next wall to host some similarly striking street art.
