Children in Irvinestown got a rare insight into life in Africa last weekend when Lesotho-born, Camilla Dorcey hosted an African camp.
Camilla was in Irvinestown last year and enjoyed it so much she couldn’t refuse the chance to travel north from her Dublin home to visit it again as part of the Summer Jamobree at the Bawnacre Centre.
“It’s a really cultural day. I try to present the positive side of life in southern Africa. When people hear about life in South Africa they immediately think of its bad side, famine, disease, violence. Of course, Northern Ireland has a similar problem with its image abroad,”said Camilla.
“Through African arts I try to educate young people, and old, and tell them of the other side of life there that is not portrayed,” she added.
