THIS is a small glimpse of the sports people and teams that have made the headlines in The Impartial Reporter on this week down through the years.
In 1996, the girls from Killyhommon Primary School won the annual girls unihoc competition at the Bawnacre Centre in Irvinestown, that saw 16 teams from across Fermanagh and West Tyrone taking part.
Ballinamallard welcomed Linfield in 2001 to play a friendly to raise funds for the Fisher Memorial Trust.
Despite the 8-0 defeat, player manager Harry McConkey was glad his side took on such quality opposition.
In 2006, Lough Erne Yacht Club’s Michael McCaldin came close to winning the J/24 Championship with Murder Picture. It was to be a second place finish overall in the event.
Fermanagh Triathlete, Gavin Noble boosted his Olympic ranking with a 15th place finish at the Edmonton ITU Triathlon World Cup in 2011.
In the same year, Lisnaskea moved to the top of the Senior Division One League as they overcame neighbours Newtownbutler by two points in a low-scoring affair.
In 2016, Shane McGirr recorded a top ten finish and won in his class at the Nicky Grist Stages Rally in Wales.
In the same year, Enniskillen Lakelanders had strong performances at the Aquasprints held in Newry, competing against City of Belfast, Olympia and Mid-Ulster Swimming Clubs.
