POLICE who stopped a car as part of a routine check at 6am in the Wellington Road area of Enniskillen discovered the driver was disqualified.
Stephen Robert Coulter (33), from Devenish Manor, Enniskillen, admitted the offence as well as having no insurance on May 24.
A defence solicitor told Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday his client’s partner was suffering side effects from her first Covid vaccination, and he “took a risk” to get items for their children by driving while disqualified.
The trip was made quite early in the morning, and admissions were made at the roadside, said the defence.
Deputy District Judge Greg McCourt remarked: “He knows he’s disqualified and had no insurance. Driving like that at 6am looks to me like he was determined to evade police detection.”
Coulter was fined a total of £550, and further disqualified from driving for nine months.
