Heartfelt tributes have been paid from across the community following the death of Peter Jones (55).
The late Mr. Jones, who has not been named by the PSNI, but which earlier this week said a male had died following an incident at Lough Melvin on Wednesday morning, has since been named across the community by a number of shocked locals and groups.
One of those paying tribute to the late Mr. Jones was local Independent Councillor and family friend, Bernice Swift, who told The Impartial Reporter: “It is with deep and heartfelt sorrow I express my sincere condolences to [Mr. Jones’s widow] Martina, her six lovely children, along with all the Jones, Gallagher and Flanagan families on the shocking, tragic loss of their beloved Peter.
“Words can't even express how deeply sorry I am that this has happened to one of the nicest fellas who ever walked the face of the earth.
“Peter epitomised everything positive you can possibly think of; he was gentleness and kindness personified.
“Everybody always had a good word to say about Peter, and that’s certainly a testament to the lovely person he most definitely was.”
Councillor Swift continued: “Peter was a very loving husband, son and brother; he was such a devoted father to his children, and a wonderful uncle and a great neighbour to one and all in our parish, most notably his commitments to Derrygonnelly Harps Club, who are also deeply saddened at Peter's devastating loss.
“I know our tight-knit community will provide support to the families impacted in the difficult days ahead and beyond.
“Peter will be fondly remembered. May he rest in eternal peace.”
A statement from Boho Community Association said: "The members of Boho Community Association are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic and untimely death of Peter Jones.
"We send our sincere condolences to Martina and family, Teresa and all the Jones and Gallagher families.
“You are in our thoughts and prayers. May Peter rest in peace."
Mr. Jones will be buried tomorrow, Saturday, July 24 following his funeral mass in Sacred Heart Church, Boho.
Due to the present Covid-19 restrictions, the house, funeral mass and burial are private, for family members only and close friends.
For those wishing to pay their respects, the funeral cortege will leave Mr. Jones’s home at 10.30am tomorrow (Saturday) morning to arrive at Sacred Heart Church, Boho for 11am.
Funeral arrangements will be carried out by Damian McGovern Funeral Directors.
