THIS week’s walk of the week is the Lake Walk at Castle Coole, which is subject to National Trust entrance pricing.
Take a pleasant, gentle walk around the tranquil Lough Coole, spotting wildlife and glimpses of the mansion house on the way.
Overview:
The Lake Walk forms part of the original historic track around the lake, which was created by the first Earl of Belmore in the late 18th Century.
It provides a number of beautiful vistas across the lake – keep an eye out for the resident swans.
This part of the estate is a protected conservation site, so keep dogs on leads where signage suggests.
Make a detour to the lake edge to take in views of the house and surrounding countryside.
THE information on this walking route has been provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and also features on a series of walking cards which have been developed to promote walking opportunities, trails and routes within the Council district.
Please note that to help reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19, social distancing should be adhered to.
