An Encirc spokesperson has confirmed that the company is working to carry out a "thorough internal investigation" after an incident at the Derrylin plant on Monday morning resulted in a man having to be airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast to receive treatment for injuries.
At 9.30am on Monday, July 26, a health and safety incident occurred at the Encirc Derrylin plant, in which a specialist sub-contractor working on an on-site electrical substation was injured.
An Encirc spokesperson said: "Immediately after the incident, first aid was administered, and the emergency services were notified."
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) attended the scene after receiving a 999 call at 9.45am following the reports of the incident in the Gortahurk Road area of Derrylin.
A NIAS spokesman said: "NIAS despatched one emergency crew and one rapid response paramedic to the scene. The charity Air Ambulance, with HEMS crew on board, were also tasked to the incident.
"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast."
The Encirc spokesperson continued: "We are now working to carry out a thorough internal investigation."
Following the incident, the production lines in the Derrylin plant stopped due to a lack of power to the site.
"Power was shortly restored in the afternoon and we envisage all of our lines will be back to full production by the end of Tuesday, July 27," the Encirc spokesperson concluded.
