AN ENNISKILLEN man has been returned for trial on charges of historic rape and sexual assault, some of which date back more than 20 years.
Appearing for a committal hearing was Mervin Holden (59), from Breandrum Park, Enniskillen, who is accused of two counts each of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault.
Offending is alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2016, involving one complainant.
A lawyer appearing for the prosecution told Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday there is a case to answer, which was agreed by Deputy District Judge Greg McCourt.
Holden did not object to the proceedings, and declined to call witnesses or give evidence on his own behalf at this stage.
Judge McCourt set bail at £500 and ordered Holden to appear for arraignment before Dungannon Crown Court on September 16.
