FERMANAGH and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) is encouraging residents to carry an ICE (In Case of Emergency) card.
The Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: “ICE cards are very important and contain all relevant details in the event that you become incapacitated.
"With many modern mobile phones locked [if their owner cannot respond], the ability to contact someone is much more difficult and consequently an ICE card – that holds details such as allergies and medical conditions, together with an emergency contact number – could quite literally be a lifesaver.
"I would urge all residents to avail of the opportunity to obtain an ICE card, and to carry it with them at all times.”
The Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP, Councillor Keith Elliot, said: “Emergencies happen when you least expect them, but the ICE card can speak for you when you cannot speak for yourself.
"This enables the person coming to your aid to have more knowledge around any illnesses or allergies you may have, thus ensuring you get the correct medical help.”
ICE cards are available from the Connect Centre, County Buildings, Enniskillen, or by contacting Fermanagh and Omagh PCSP at pcsp@fermanaghomagh.com.
