THE Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) has paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of its Covid-19 vaccination teams at each of the Trust’s three mass vaccination centres after they put in a record-breaking effort as part of the “Big Jab Weekend”.
Last weekend’s initiative saw between 8,000 and 12,000 people vaccinated across Northern Ireland, with a total of 3,870 doses administered by the Western trust alone.
The main aim of the drive was to encourage people to take up their first dose and this appears to have been a great success for the Western Trust.
In total, its teams administered 2,724 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine at its centres, at the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen; Omagh Leisure Centre, and Foyle Arena, Londonderry.
Commenting on the success of the Big Jab Weekend, Western Trust Director of Performance and Service Improvement, Teresa Molloy, said: “We are incredibly proud of our vaccination teams and our wider staff for the huge effort they have put into our vaccination programme, with more than 85 per cent of our population in the Western Trust area receiving their first vaccine, to date.
“Although we have delivered the programme through a variety of means, our primary method has been via our three mass vaccination centres, and over the course of the Big Jab Weekend, our teams have put in an incredible effort by administering a quite frankly staggering 3,870 doses.
“On behalf of the Western Trust, I would just like to publicly extend our thanks to each and every one who was involved over the course of this extremely busy weekend in our continued fight against Covid-19.”
