THE demand for pop-up Covid-19 vaccination centres across the South West College (SWC) campuses is proving strong as a two-week student-focused vaccination programme continues.
From September 13-17 – during the first week of the 'Jabbathon' initiative – there were 291 vaccines administered during the vaccination programme, that is part of a Freshers Week Jabbathon drive across further and higher education campuses.
The figures relate to the vaccination programme arranged by SWC, Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) and the Southern Health & Social Care Trust (Southern Trust).
The 291 vaccines were administered across the three SWC campuses – at Dungannon, Omagh, and Erne (Enniskillen) – with those vaccinated including staff, students and the wider public.
Speaking to The Impartial Reporter as the programme enters its second week, Catherine McCrory, South West College, said: “Attendance at the pop-up vaccination clinics in the SWC catchment areas has been encouraging.
“We are delighted to be able to work with Western Trust and the Southern Trust across our campuses to ensure that Covid vaccines are equally available to the people of Dungannon, Omagh and Enniskillen who wish to access the vaccine.”
Clinics have been available all of this week across the campuses, and have taken place so far in the Technology & Skills Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday in Omagh, and there will be a further opportunity to avail of the vaccine at the Erne Campus today (Thursday, September 23) from 4-8pm for anyone who still wishes to access the vaccine.
The vaccination session tomorrow evening, Friday, is open to members of the public as well as students aged 16 and over who wish to receive a first-dose Pfizer jab.
