Tyrone star Niall Sludden received a hero’s welcome as the All-Ireland winner returned to work at St. Mary’s Primary School in Newtownbutler on Monday morning.
The kids were all decked out in red and white to greet the Red Hands player who had played such a pivotal role in Tyrone securing Sam Maguire for the first time since 2008, and a fourth title in their history.
Mr. Sludden arrived at the school in the back of an open-top car to great fanfare from his pupils, who were delighted to see him back.
Tyrone defeated Mayo in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on a 2-14 to 0-15 scoreline, with Dromore man Sludden kicking a point and producing a wonderful performance.
