There was great success locally at the Miss International MSc 2021 competition as Enniskillen's Jane Farmer and Summer Cunningham from Fivemiletown were recognised with titles.
Hosted by the Northern Ireland School of Modelling, owned by Ann Connor, the competition took place on August 21 at the Clayton Hotel Belfast and featured three categories; Miss International MSc, Miss Teen International MSc and Little Miss International MSc.
Competing in the Miss International MSc category, the competition was Jane's first pageant experience and she was delighted to win the title of Miss Catwalk MSc 2021 on the night.
Talking about her experience, she told The Impartial Reporter: "It was good fun, I was very nervous, I'd never done anything like that. Ann was great, very helpful and my mates came with me."
"In my category I won the best catwalk. I was really surprised and really happy because catwalk is one of the things that I always wanted to do," she said.
Ann commented: "Jane was a finalist in the competition. She has a definite edge and a different look. This was her first competition and I thought she done fantastically. Really, really well."
Following her success at this year's Miss International MSc competition, Jane plans to do some more modelling: "I have a few shoots lined up and I'd like to do some more competitions I think."
Eight-year-old Summer competed in the Little Miss International MSc category and was awarded the title Little Miss Photographic. Commenting that she was "so proud" of her daughter, Summer's mum Gemma Cunningham explained that her daughter has also been picked to join the Northern Ireland School of Modelling.
Noting how Summer enjoyed taking part in the competition, Gemma said: "It was quite new for both of us as we'd never done anything like that before, it was a great confidence boost for her. She just loves the whole getting dressed up, getting ready for it."
In a post to the Northern Ireland School of Modelling Facebook page following the event, Ann thanked all who contributed to the organisation and smooth running of the competition, the compere Dave Martin, judges Emma from Echo Hair Salon Omagh, Jamie from Jamie Houston Hairdressing Ballygawley, Julie Patterson leading magazine consultant, Miss International 2019 Rachel Frew and Miss Teen International 2019 Megan McQueen.
"Most of all my thanks goes to all the contestants and especially to our winners Miss International MSc 2021 Rebekah, Miss Teen International MSc 2021 Mackenzie and Little Miss International MSc 2021 Indigo-Rose," she said.
