Fanfare for the Makers, a special concert of music and readings to celebrate the BBC’s 40-year partnership with the Ulster Orchestra will feature a poem by a local writer.
'Sweet Spot', a poem about Lough Erne by Leitrim-born, Fermanagh-based poet Trish Bennett will be read as part of the celebratory showcase.
The programme will be broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds on Thursday, November 11 from 7.30pm and will include several new BBC music commissions, as well as classical favourites and readings that evoke a sense of landscape, people and place.
The concert takes its theme from some lines in Louis MacNeice’s poem, Autumn Sequel – ‘So Fanfare for the Makers... Let us make. And set the weather fair.’
The Ulster Orchestra will be joined by guest soloists, a cast of well-known actors and conductor Stephen Bell.
