The Rotary Club of Enniskillen presented cheques to five local charities on Monday as part of its monthly meeting in the Killyhevlin Hotel.

Cheques were presented to local charities whose vital work in the Fermanagh community help many people in a range of ways.

£500 was presented to St Vincent de Paul, and £500 was also presented to the The Salvation Army.

Three foodbanks from across the country were included in cheque presentations, with Enniskillen Foodbank, The Pantry Foodbank, Lisnaskea and ARC Healthy Living Centre Foodbank, Irvinestown being presented with £200 each.

Since 2000, more than £90,000 has been raised by the Rotary Club of Enniskillen and donated to help support many charities and organisations across the region.

Welcoming the cheque presentations, Neil Jardine, Secretary, Rotary Club of Enniskillen, said: "This money comes from the annual Santa Mobile collection, which the Rotary Club of Enniskillen has run since 2000.

"In the preceding 20 years, more than £90,000 has been raised, which is all used for charities and good causes within the Fermanagh Area."

Santa himself was also part of festivities on Monday as he brought his Santa Mobile to the Killyhevlin Hotel to help mark the cheque presentations.

Mr. Claus will be taking some time out of his very busy schedule to join his friends in Enniskillen Rotary Club next week and in the run-up to Christmas across Fermanagh.

The Santa Mobile will be visiting the Diamond, Enniskillen on Friday, December 17; Saturday, December 18; Monday, December 20; and Wednesday, December 22, with Mr. Claus also making a stop in Irvinestown on Tuesday, December 21.
