People who are missing Fermanagh this Christmas want to send a special message to all of their loved ones back in Fermanagh.

Greetings that were sent to The Impartial Reporter include a greeting from Anne Fee and Richard Armstrong-Brooke, who are orginally from Fivemiletown.

The pair are now in Hong Kong and enclosed a picture of Hong Kong harbour, as well as a selfie of them out and about.

They said: "[We are] sending all our love and hugs across the miles to all our family and friends this festive season."

When asked what they will miss most about Fermanagh this Christmas time, they said: "Family, friends and festive fun."

A message from the USA came in from David Turner and family, who are now based in Boston, Massachusetts.

David, who is orginally from Irvinestown, said: "Happy Christmas to my sister and her family from David, Kathryn, Daniel and Maryrose."

He added: "Hope to see you all soon." David and family said they will miss "meeting up with extended family" this Christmas.

Elsewhere, David Milne from Enniskillen, who is now in the Philippines, had one festive request. He said: "Season's greetings and Merry Christmas to all. Send me some snow."

David must be dreaming of a white Christmas at home, for when he was asked what he will miss the most about Fermanagh this Christmas, he simply said "snow".

There are also the hundreds of other people who hail from this county who will be missing Fermanagh at Christmas time.

They will miss their friends and families and, of course, all of the traditions at home, with Christmas marked very differently in some other parts of the world.

2021 has been a difficult year for many families, with loved ones not being allowed back to Northern Ireland until very recently, and others who are still abroad and dreaming of returning home.

Indeed, many homes will also be taking some time to remember our absent friends and family who have since passed on, as they reflect on the year that has passed and all of the changes that we have endured.
