A woman who police found in her car which ran out of fuel has been banned from driving.
Police came across the car on the Irvinestown Road, Enniskillen on January 9 following earlier reports of an intoxicated woman in a Volkswagen Tiguan at a petrol station next to Enniskillen Police Station.
At 12.30am, police discovered the car partially blocking the Irvinestown Road, and when they spoke to the driver, Laura Downey (28), of Ashley Park, Ballinamallard, they detected a smell of intoxicating liquor and her speech was slurred.
She was arrested and failed a preliminary breath test and told police she had been drinking in a bar before driving.
Downey gave an evidential reading of 56mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The defendant also told police that she had no intention of driving home, and she had run out of fuel. She also apologised to police.
Her solicitor, Michelle McVeigh, said her client was extremely remorseful and entered a guilty plea at the earliest opportunity, and said that the loss of her driving licence would have a significant impact on her life.
Downey was disqualified from driving for one year and fined £200 by District Judge Steven Keown.
